Want to read a case study of how using autoresponders or opt-in emails can increase your sales and income stream, read on.
Here I tell you about my first and very successful autoresponder opt-in email campaign that I set up.
My Goal - What did I want to achieve with an opt-in email campaign?
I needed to educate the visitors to my website www.property-coach.co.uk about 'What' Home Staging was and the 'Benefits' of staging a home.
With the opt-in campaign I hoped to:
I decided to set up a 'Free Mini Course' for the visitors of my website www.property-coach.co.uk to help to educate them and help build up a feeling of trust with me and the website.
I wanted to make sure that visitors came back to the website, or were reminded of it so that they would begin to think of my brand and my company as the solution to their issues or needs.
I also wanted to be able to contact visitors to my website to tell them about new services, products and ideas that I may want to offer them in the future.
My Opt-in Email Campaign - How was I going to achieve it?
I decided that my customers were looking for information about 'What' my services (home staging) were as well as 'How' they could do it themselves.
I felt that I would gain trust and respect if I gave away valuable information in a 'free course'. Most visitors would still choose to use my services or buy my book, but with the confidence of the quality of the information that they would receive.
The Work - What needed to be done.
First I wrote a short mini course and created 10 parts to it that I hosted on ten pages of my website.
I could have chosen to write 10 (or however many) articles or even create 10 videos to do the pre-selling job that I was aiming to do.
Next I needed to write the emails that would be sent out automatically to any one who signed up for the course.
Within each email I embedded a link to the next part of the 'Mini Course'.
Each email needed to contain a 'Call to action' i.e. get those visitors to 'click the link' to see the next part of the mini course.
This is a bit of an art in itself and I do recommend that you look at Michael Rasmussen's course that gives you lots of valuable ideas to get those visitors to open the email and act on it.
(You'll be taken through a number of sales pages that offer you a paid course, but just continue through and you will be given the free course).
I also included links to my website and of course to my blog.
What I needed to do next was to look for a good autoresponder to host my campaign and manage the whole process.
The Solution
I chose to use Get Response for my very first follow-up opt-in email marketing campaign.
Setting up the opt-in campaign was very quick. I loaded up my emails, set the personalisation preferences, so that when emails went out to those who had opted in to the 'Mini Course' the email opened with their name e.g. Hello Steve, .....
The Results
The results have been really impressive.
Opt-ins began immediately and although I had only projected that I would sign up 1% of my 10,000 weekly visitors, the sign up has been running at closer to 2%.... That's 200 new leads each week which is a better return than any other marketing campaigns I have run.
Now all these sign-ups happen at different times over the day and over the week.
If I were to be manually sending out the emails then I would be at my computer 24/7
But, thanks to Get Response, once I had set up the emails and the frequency between delivery (I chose to send each part of the course every other day) all I did was check how my sign-ups were going by calling up the report page.
Get Response even make this easy for you by sending a weekly report of your sign-ups or opt-ins.
I complete the 'Mini Course' with a feedback form where I ask some simple questions to help me further refine my marketing and craft future on line services and selling.
Once the opt-in email marketing campaign had got under way I saw a steady increase in enquiries for the services and also an increase in my affiliate sales of books on the website.
One of the very successful results of the marketing campaign is the revenue generated from my Adsense ( the adverts that Google host).
I created the mini course with adsense included in each part of the course. I knew that visitors might well read the course and then look to go somewhere else, as the purpose of the course was not to sell anything per se.
Once those visitors had finished reading the course they would reach the end of the page and see some adsense adverts. More often than not they would click on these to navigate to something new.
So overall the campaign has and continues to be very successful.
I hope that this article gives you loads of ideas on how to improve you affiliate marketing business success.
Yours
Brian
