So What Is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate selling or affiliate marketing can be many different things but essentially affiliate marketing is a huge business, almost exclusively played out on the internet.
Affiliate marketing is the joint venture between someone with a product or service to sell (the merchant) and another agent, often someone with a website or blog (the affiliate seller or affiliate marketer).
Just as a supermarket sets out products on their shelves, sometimes with advertising and product promotions & information, the supermarket is essentially acting as an affiliate for the manufacturer of that product.
Why would I want to promote someone else's products?
Well there are many reasons you might consider becoming an affiliate seller or marketer:
- You make money by promoting other peoples goods & services - the manufacturer or product owner pays you a %, often 50% or more, whenever the manufacturer makes a sale.
- You don't have to develop and create your own products.
- The offering of many related goods and services can give your website credibility - Your visitors will value the added services that you are giving them.
- The whole process is automated - from making the sale to paying you the commission - and it can happen 24 hours a day.
- It gives you a new and ever growing income generating stream.
